DoggieRescue does not take any personal surrenders! We only rescue dogs from the death row council pounds.
We are here for dogs that have no one else to help.
Your dog has still got you to help so do the right thing by him/her! It is your responsibility, no one else’s!
If for some reason you feel like you have to re-home your pet please try and re-home him yourself and give him a chance to go on living. You will feel better for it!
Council pounds are always full and the possibility of your dog being destroyed in the next few days after “dropping him/her off” is VERY HIGH! Surrendered dogs have no legal status and can be killed right away.
Here is what you can do:
- Make sure your dog is de-sexed, microchipped and up-to-date with all vaccinations.
- Take lots of cute pictures of your dog and share these on social media with your friends, family and co-workers (get them to share your post on their wall)
- Write a profile on your dog – mention his/her special attributes, what sort of a household he/she would suit, what training he has had, is he toilet trained, what he is like left alone, what he is like with small children, cats etc.
- Call all the vets in your area and tell them about your dog needing a new home, leave posters of your dog at vet clinics, dog parks, libraries etc.
- Try to advertise your dog on websites like www.gumtree.com.au, www.tradingpost.com.auor www.petlink.com.au or similar. SCREEN ALL INQUIRIES just like we have to! Don’t allow for your dog to end up in the wrong hands! ALWAYS charge for your dog! See our ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE to get some idea of what sort of questions to ask.
