Do you or members of your family have no or limited experience being around dogs but you would love to adopt/foster one?
Our shelter runs a “Doggie Experience Program” where you can come with your family and walk our dogs prior to an adoption appointment!
You can even keep a record of all the dogs your family have walked and what your experiences were with these dogs.
We suggest you come at least 4-5 times and walk at least 2 dogs each time you come to gain some dog handling skills and learn a bit more about how all dogs are different.
Some might pull and be very adventurous on their walk wanting to sniff everything, meet everyone etc. and others might be just too scared, timid or shy to leave the place where they know it and where they feel safe, some might not even know how to walk on a lead!
Our shelter is open Tue-Sun from 11am – 3.30pm for Doggie Experience Program. There is no need to call just pop in and ask for a dog to walk. Please wear some closed in shoes for your safety and bring your IDs so you can register as new volunteers. All kids under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
